Saxony-Anhalt celebrates Lucas Cranach the Younger!

The Reformation country of origin celebrates the 500th Birthday of Lucas Cranach the Younger with the State Exhibition “Cranach the Younger 2015” from 26 June to 1 November 2015. It is the first worldwide exhibition, which dedicates itself to the life and work of the master. At original locations the exhibition organizers in Lutherstadt Wittenberg, in Dessau and Wörlitz present the most important and most valuable works of art of the German Renaissance in a great exposition

Thuringia was an important stage in life for Cranach the Elder– here he married, owed two houses, here he died. And to this day one can admire works of father and son in Thuringian churches and museums. The Thuringian Theme Year “Picture and Message” focuses on great works of the father and son in three magnificent exhibitions.
